2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge vs. 2022 V60 Recharge: PHEV Wagon or EV SUV?

A luxury family vehicle has to have certain characteristics. In order to transport your loved ones in the best environment, it has to have space, technologies, performance and, of course, many safety systems to keep everyone safe. Every Volvo vehicle has all that, and much more.

Some drivers prefer a wagon for its sporty attributes, others like and SUV because of the higher ground clearance and interior space. Some like an EV for its efficiency and the fact that it only uses renewable resources, others prefer to go for a PHEV for maximum range.

Here, we look at the main differences between the Volvo V60 Recharge PHEV wagon and the fully electric Volvo XC40 Recharge SUV.

Both models offer 400+ hp, but with different powertrains

Power goes hand in hand with efficiency at Volvo. And both vehicles use state-of-the-art propulsion systems to give you the best experience at the wheel. However, these powertrains are completely different in these two vehicles. Under the hood of the V60 Recharge, you will find the T8 engine. It uses a four-cylinder 2.0 L engine which is both turbocharged and supercharged. It is mated to a powerful battery and an electric motor to provide 400 horsepower.

You can plug the V60 Recharge and drive up to 35 kilometres without using a drop of gas. For those who like more performance and a more dynamic drive, the Polestar Engineered variant incorporates many motorsport-inspired components, as well as 15 more horsepower on tap.

The XC40 Recharge has a completely different powertrain; it is fully electric. It delivers up to 402 horsepower. As far as range goes, the XC40 Recharge will provide 359 kilometres before it needs to be plugged in.

The Volvo V60 Recharge is impressively spacious for cargo

With different body styles, both vehicles offer plenty of interior space. The XC40 SUV offers 578 litres of cargo when full of passengers, and 1,328 litres when the 2nd row is flat.

The V60 Recharge offers more, with 658 litres of space when it is full of passengers. Once the seats are folded, you get a total of 1,441 litres.

The 2022 Volvo V60 starts at $71,100 and the XC40 starts at $59,950. Come and see it today! You can also shop for your car online with us. Our representatives await your call and can answer all your questions.
