Volvo introduces 2022 lineup of plug-in hybrid Recharge models with more range

Volvo has just introduced significant improvements to its plug-in hybrid Recharge models that include a larger capacity battery leading to more range and more all electric driving capability.

Volvo Recharge models now lead the way in the respective segments when it comes to efficiency, and they offer enough range to complete most of your daily commute without needing a single drop of fuel.

New Volvo Recharge models now come with an 18.8 kWh battery compared to an 11.6 kW our battery in previous models. This larger capacity battery improves all electric range by between 79% and over 100% based on the model. The table below shows the improvements in all electric range.

As you can see, models like the Volvo XC60 T8 all-wheel drive Recharge and Volvo XC 90 T8 all-wheel drive Recharge now offer nearly 60 km of range, nearly doubling the range they offered in the previous models.

The other significant improvement with Volvo plug-in hybrid vehicles this year is the increased performance. The rear electric motor now delivers 143 hp compared to 87 hp in the previous generation. That means a total output is now 455 hp, an increase of 55 compared to previous models. These models continue to be the most powerful in their respective segments but they are also the most powerful ever built by Volvo.

Other significant improvements made to 2022 Volvo Recharge models include the addition of one pedal driving functionality, something that we normally only see on electric vehicles. Using one pedal driving, you can control accelerations and deceleration's using only the accelerator.
