Volvo receives more IIHS safety awards than any other brand

Volvo has received more IIHS safety awards in 2021 than any other automaker, confirming the Swedish automaker’s position as a benchmark in the industry when it comes to protecting occupants.

Volvo gave itself the ambitious objective that no one be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo, and these awards prove the manufacturer was serious in its intention.

In other to receive the Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS, the highest possible safety award, Volvo vehicles had to pass the moderate overlap front, driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests with the highest possible grade.

“Safety has been the core of our business since 1927 and we always appreciate when prestigious third-party organizations recognize that,” said Anders Gustafsson, President and CEO of Volvo Car USA.

The following models received the top pick from the IIHS:

  • Volvo S60
  • Volvo S60 Recharge
  • Volvo V60
  • Volvo V60 Recharge
  • Volvo XC40
